Methamphetamine properly refers to a specific chemical, the racemic free base, which is an equal parts mixture of levomethamphetamine and dextromethamphetamine in their pure amine forms. Dextromethamphetamine is a stronger CNS stimulant than levomethamphetamine; however, both enantiomers are neurotoxic and addictive.
